The only reason the dust cover/bolt obstructor would be open would have meant that she tried to load a round into the chamber, thus realizing that there is no mag...

Unloaded weapons in the field is not what was said. Unloaded weapons in the station and around everyone else was what was said. I personally saw it myself. They are not supposed to be loaded in the station according to some bosses.

At least she took the bolt obstructer out? Lol.

I had to comment on this. That PO is from 025, and no, she isn't a reflection of this department. She obviously needs more training than the 40 hours she had in the Carbine Course. Stressful situations tend to cause these slip ups unless you TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN. When **** hits the fan you will fall to your lowest training denominator.
Also, in regards to the comments about the department regulating what weapon you can deploy in certain situations or the ridiculous comments about wanting unloaded weapons in the field are inaccurate.

I'm more worried about the loose shotgun round on top of that guys pouch. if that falls to the ground they could all slip on it and die.

Just look at how pristine that tahoe is in the background... Probably a shoot for a tv show/movie

^ I was trying to be nice but thought the same. My god, what happened to pride in personal appearance and the uniform. I never understood fat cops. Letting out the duty belt is not the easiest thing, so when you feel it start to get tight, do something about it! And I don't mean making the belt bigger.

This is obviously not a staged photo. Who would want to hire the gal in the background to make this look appealing?

I'll also add it is against general orders to have no mag in the weapon or have a spare mag on hand. Chamber blocks are required while being transported only
Anonymous on SCC said she's from 025 and that in the original photo you can see her tag on her car.

I'm glad I work on a PD that allows me to decide which weapon to deploy when I feel it is appropriate, and they believe loaded is always appropriate. It's nothing for us to deploy rifles on bank alarms, any call of man with a gun, or on any call the Officer deems it's appropriate.

re: being told not to load.......
we had a "big" boss tell us not to chamber a shotgun round at a barricaded/armed suicidal one rainy night.....we took certain orders from our 2nd in command that night, needless to say

"Word has it barb west doesn't want officers to carry a rifle because it scares the public. Since she knows she can't stop officers from carrying one she doesn't let them have them loaded, they are empty. In fact here is a pic from the tribune with an officer from 015 at the scene of a shooting with an empty rifle."

Again this is someone else's comment, take it for what it's worth. I guess there may be more to this story after all!
The sad thing is that I've heard of various Sgt's, Lt's and Commander's having issues with the rifles. Which is why you are supposed to leave the bolt-obstructer in the rifle while in the stations, not load mags while in the station or bring them back with anything loaded. These people think rifles go off on their own and that you can't be safe with them. It's ridiculous.

Is this in 07,08, or 09? I think I spoke to her once.. And at least she is kinda cute...I would hate for the criminal element to catch wind of this. "Police without bullets", think of the mayhem!
Well on second thought can't be worse than what we have now.
