Negative. There is not a flush fitting 10rd ar15 magazine.

It looks like a professional photo. Maybe just an error in props.

This was not a photo shoot. This was on scene of an actual police shooting. There is clearly no mag in the rifle. Steph, please tell me you are kidding with the bless her heart comment. Means well means being prepared for your job.

Also an EOTech should not be mounted like that unless it is a free float forend. Hard to tell from the pic, but the delta ring appears removed, so it might be a FF.

The mag spot isn't open and slanted like that though? It definitely looks like something is in there. There is another photo on the website that shows her at a different angle. It looks like a small mag, but I've never seen one for that rifle.

That's not a small mag, that's the magazine well. Have you ever handled an AR type rifle before?

And why would she be using a 10rd magazine anyway? The whole point of having that rifle is to give yourself a tactical advantage in firepower, not give yourself less rounds than a duty pistol has. I have never seen LE use a 10rd mag for a rifle, but I've also never seen LE walk around with NO mag inserted...I'm just glad her finger is off the trigger.

Sometimes you have to find solace in the little things because the big picture is just too depressing. The other pictures attached to the story do not flatter my department either.

Steph, sorry didn't mean to jump on you, I know sarcasm can translate different on the interwebz, I know I've been guilty too. Everything else you've always written shows you been good to go, that's why I was confused for a second. Ha. That is clearly just the mag well and the lip of the well. Even a 5 rounder doesn't sit that flush. Unless she has a California compliant AR. Ha. For guys not familiar I guess with AR's, the well is slanted, she also appears short, so it's easier to lose perspective of a small hand holding it. The picture also has some noise and distortion making some things less clear. Cityblusuit, unfortunately we all got them on our PD's (the less competent ones) and "magically" the camera finds them. I'm sure the papers photographers have a hidden agenda and find the porky or the clueless looking ones.
