Harvey Police Officer Testing 2013

Harvey Police Administered a written test in October 2013. Background investigations, interviews, were in the months that followed. Psych exams were in January and February 2014. Has anyone heard anything since February? Has Harvey hired anyone in the past few months and does anyone know the status of the testing process? Thanks for any information.

Read the other thread in detail! And then make your own decision if you really want to continue the testing process with the department. Also, google harvey pd and research the department and ask yourself, do I really want my name associated with this PD? I've tested with harvey before and realized what a huge mistake I was making during the oral interview. Send me a PM if you want further information.

Yes you're right, I'm so upset I don't work for harvey. It was my dream department that I wanted to work for. Maybe I can some day trade out my position as a Deputy to become a Officer for the lavish town of Harvey. Let me know when they test again so I can get an application. Thanks.

Hello GlockGuy24, I appreciate your feedback. I have researched Harvey extensively and understand that there have been some issues in the past. My take is that they really are trying to clean things up and change for the better. From media accounts it would seem that there have been some bad apples. However, I would venture to say that there are also many hardworking, honest, and capable Harvey Police Officers. Again, thanks for the 4-1-1.

This is really flogging a dead horse at this point. Yes, there are good cops in Harvey. But Harvey politics as a whole are rotten to the core. This article is rather slanted, but the questions and statements are still relevant. With all the other choices of PD's out there to test, why someone would subject themselves to this is beyond me.

So I've been wondering about this ever since someone mentioned switching departments after just getting hired. Say Harvey sends you to an academy and while in the academy you get an offer from another burb and you accept. Does that suburb take over the cost to finish your training? Or do you leave the academy and get sent to an academy of that burbs choosing?

Not at all. Harvey gets angry that you are jumping ship while in the Academy. You have to quit that Academy and go to an Academy that the other department wants to use and start at day one again.

If you plan on the jumping ship route. Wait until you pass the Academy first. That way you pass the State Exam and are certified...

Adding onto what I said as earlier, Some suburbs will actually charge you the cost of training, salary, equipment, academy cost, etc if you voluntarily quit during training.
