  • Arson Investigation

Looking for advice in becoming an arson investigator. Looking at the private sector (insurance companies, etc.) as a part-time gig. Any info would be great

In my area, and it may apply to your area as well, the key seems to be to get experience. Could you:

-Join a volunteer fire department to get firefighting experience?

-Get your agency to send you to to the National Fire Academy as a cop?

While there is certainly no guarantee that would get your foot in the door, it might not be a bad a start. I have known a couple of guys that get fire experience, then join the State Fire Fire Marshal's Office, after experience as a State Fire Marshal, they are a real good candidate for an insurance company.
