  • I'd love to guess for you, but honestly I have no idea. That is controlled by the merit board and until we pull a group for backgrounds there isn't much to know.

    • For any police testing, doesn't the written and physical usually eliminate around 25-40%, if you were looking for a ballpark figure?

Like ISPTPR22 stated, unless someone from the merit board released data (and I highly doubt anyone would post that), you need to guess.

      • Purely speculation but we're looking at roughly 800-1000 people if not more in an eligibility pool. 120 have been pulled for backgrounds and oral interview moving forward in selection process recently which roughly leaves close to 900 in the pool with an anticipated 2 upcoming classes. I'm just trying to wrap my mind around how difficult it may be to get a job. I now see what i was looking for, i've always heard it's no walk in the park getting a job with ISP and until now I didn't totally get the numbers. It's pretty obvious the selection process is super competitive, sheer number of people testing is huge and moving beyond successful completion of written and physical exams will prove to be very difficult. Thanks ISPTPR22 & RMM for the info..

          • Very sad news. A ISP Trooper was killed yesterday evening on I-294 at Willow. Details are unavailable at the moment, except it was an accident involving a semi-trailer. Rest in peace brother.

                • RIP Trooper. Such a great guy from a stand-up department. There are way too many men and women on the ODMP this year...

                          • It was truly a beautiful funeral service today for Tpr. James Sauter. I'm always floored by the showing of support from fellow LE during a time like this. I won't lie, I think I got something in my eye when the bagpipes started and Sauter's wife was escorted to her seat. As well as the 10-42 check outside, and seeing the outpouring of support from citizens during the procession.

Again Troopers, very sorry for the loss of an outstanding individual from your ranks.

I wasn't there, but it looked beautiful. It was covered by all the major news stations. Looked like an amazing turn out.

                                Sorry for your loss Troopers.
