I don't see anything in this bill that makes front windshield tint legal. The Senate over-rode the house's amendment to the bill and deleted the exemption for front windshield tinting for medical reasons.

The only change is that you can now have windows tinted that are adjacent to the driver.

        Senate Floor Amendment No. 1
        625 ILCS 5/3-412 from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-412

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to provide that a person may drive a motor vehicle with a nonreflective material tinted film that does not allow less than 50% light transmittance (or less than 35% light transmittance if the windows to the rear of the driver already have certain window treatment applied) upon the side windows immediately adjacent to each side of the driver. Deletes a front windshield exemption for persons afflicted with or suffering from a medical illness, ailment, or disease. Deletes an exemption to certain window obstruction provisions for motor vehicles manufactured prior to January 1, 1982.

I wonder if Dick Daley and his alderman puppets will be mad that they can no longer ticket parked cars with tint. They will find another way to get $250.00 per ticket.

It's fine with me the rear passenger may be packing heat in the back seat where tint's were legal. Not much of an safety.

PC why put yourself in danger. Nap time is the best. LOL not that I have seen anyone or do it. but if your warried just take a 2-4 hour nap.

Instead of taking naps, you should be studying up on grammar and how to write complete thoughts.

License plate lights-why have them when the ones that need to see the plates are cops with takedown and spot lights?
One Shot, One Kill. Anything else is just pu(ff)y!

Still can. Just because the state says you can have tints, doesn't mean Chicago says you can.

All I have to say is we all wonder why our state is sooo jacked up??? Let's put some thought into this, a state law is passed but villages/ cities/ townships etc. can supersede it. Hmmm does anyone else think this may be another contributing factor to such a well run state?

50% light transmittance is barely anything...most often tint you see on cars is 35%...limo tint is 5%

IMO, this is not going to change our enforcement much...only make it harder because not we will probably need light meters to measure the tint.
