  • Lay off's

I just read(Northwest indiana times) that seven Calumet City police officer's are going to be laid off? The lowest on the seniority list will be let go. I guess no one is immune to this economy.

They were laid off along with about 50 part time positions within the city. Very unfortunate.

Of all places to lay off; Calumet City needs all the help they can get.

This is certainly nothing new to law enforcement agencies. I was laid off awhile back, and its a horrible feeling not knowing what you are going to do for money. Thankfully I was picked up by another agency very quickly, but not everyone has been so lucky. Best of luck to those officers.

that sucks, when hammond layed off 15 a few months back thats when i threw in the towel with testing for a lil while and joined the army. Seems like every test nowadays is just for lists

Cal City had a fun night. I bet they're going to miss those officers.

Wow, A friend of mine said they were hiring approximately 4 new officers when they were testing in the summer. Very unfortunate, yet again. How many Officers are possibly getting the "boot" temporarily from there??

You plan on working there anytime soon?? lol--Hopefully the officers who got layed off get their jobs back ASAP.. It seemed like the media was more worried about the lay off's of crossing guards and not the police.

Naw... I thought about testing a few times, and I'm glad I didn't. And it looks like they're having a good time with all the dead bodies, car jackings, and high speed chases. Kudos to Mayor Michelle Makeriwicz

Most of the South Suburbs are going to the dogs, now.
