I think Illinois gun laws are far too strict, but the way they are written now I see this as kind of a stretch... Don't know if I agree with that ruling.

this is a stretch, not to sure on this one, so any idiot with a Foid card can carry a gun in the center console. If they are going to keep relaxing laws on UUW they need to be more strict on who can legally buy guns and who can get a FOID card.

Stricter? Getting a FOID is as difficult, if not a bit more so, than getting a concealed carry permit in other states...

Really how do you figure that?

The Legislature will add the word "portable" and /or " case designed for transportation of a firearm" to the statute.

Well, let me answer your question with a question.

Who exactly can legally buy guns and get a FOID card right now that you feel shouldn't be able to? How should the FOID be more strict? I could probably agree that they might need to do a better job of screening applicants, didn't the NIU shooter legally purchase his firearms despite a history of mental illness?

I have an out-of-state License to Carry permit from Pennsylvania. Filling out that application was fairly similar to the FOID, cost only $5 at the time, and was mailed to me within 2 weeks. Getting my FOID was more difficult than an out of state concealed carry permit, and that doesn't make a single bit of sense to me.

Amazing that I can get a concealed carry permit from a state I don't even reside in, but can't get one in my own home state.

answering with a a question is usually a sign of deception, so dont bother wasting my time, second just because it took you longer to get your FOID, that makes it more difficult, give me a break.

You're the one who wants to make the FOID card even more strict.

NO. U must have the plug in when u are out hunting. When a game warden asks to inspect your shotgun and you don't have one I believe you lose your hunting license, any game you managed to get and receive a hefty fine.

I think it would be better to find out in what manner it is permissible to store a handgun in a glove box like: does the gun have to be unloaded INCLUDING the magazines or speed loaders? Does the glove box have to have a lock? My car's glove box does not come with a lock. I for one don't think this is a good idea. Too too easy to reach over to unlock it and use it.
One Shot, One Kill. Anything else is just pu(ff)y!

Now that the common definition of "case" was used in the decision I fully expect to see an attemt to re-word the law. But for now it stands, and since it does, a LOT of things would be considered a case then.

Back to the original traffic stop, does anybody know what else was going on at the time of arrest. What real harm is it if a guy has an unloaded gun in a center console vs having it in a cheap walmat pistol case? Do you guys really think that's worth jail time? For cripes sake ! A five dollar piece of canvas with a zipper on it is all kosher while a glove box means Jail ?!?! That's crazy !

Dont be jealous cause im doing the job you wish you were doing.
