  • Anybody else take the Mchenry Sheriff test today?

The written was easy except for the math which wasn't hard, but I didn't have enough time. I'm glad I was with the first group as far as the physical went being there were 350 people. I'm surprised it wasn't pass/fail.

I was there, first time applying. Way too many people. Is it usually like that?
didn't make my situp and bench goal, so i know what i need to work on. good luck, though to all that were there!

I was there too. I agree that the math was the worst of the test.
There were a lot of applicants I wonder how many passed the Powr test?

It doesn't matter, it was just an evaluation test to see where you stand physically. The real power test comes right before you enter the academy. One guy was ****ed off that it wasn't the official power test because it would have weeded out a lot of applicants. Hell, out of the 17 people in my group, 10 of them couldn't bench their own weight.

I really do not understand the concept of the having an evaluation to see where you stand in reference to the power test. The test is really easy and personally I think that you will be aware of "where you stand physically" if you go to the gym prior to the test. Though I did not take this test I also get annoyed when I am at a test and it is treated in the same fashion. To me, it is redundant to even hold a power test if you are not going to boot the people that fail it. Either way, it is just my opinion so good luck to everyone that tested.

Let me get this straight, if you failed the power test you did not get booted? What the hell are things coming to.

Correct, the Lt. stated that just because it isn't pass/fail doesn't mean to take it lightly. He said that they will take the physical into consideration as to who makes the eligibility list.

                Was going to test

I was going to test but saw that there eligibility list had around 140-150 people so i did not test. Way too many people for me. On another note though I tested for Champaign city. I drove 3 hours for a department that has people laid off but thought since Champaign was testing in 3 different cities they were hiring. Oh well. I guess all anyone can do is keep testing anywhere and everywhere. Good luck to all that did test.

There has to be more to it than that.
Otherwise why waste the time, effort and cost of testing 350 applicants?
In my opinon if that were the case then just do the written and select from there who will be tested physically right?
