I currently live in Indiana and looking to relocate to the northern IL area (dupage, cook, kane, kendall, dekalb, or will county).
I was wondering if anyone knew if any of these counties were hiring, or had any experience working as an adult probation officer for these counties. Any information would be helpful. I know that I have to be placed on a hiring list with the state and with the local chief judge's office. I'm just curious as to the managment side of things for the individual counties, and the typical starting salary for a probation officer. I have about five years experience in Indiana with a master's degree, but I've been told I do not get any kind of credit toward a salary for my years of experience.
Any kind of insight would be helpful as I dig for a job in the area. Also, if anyone has heard of some good job leads in the criminology, investigation, government services. . that would be great as well.
