Hi,

I read that the Chicago Fire Department produced it's first graduates from the March 2006 written exam last week.

Has anyone been contacted for processing lately?

I haven't heard from them since notification that I passed the written exam.

Congrats on the exam result.

I don't know much about the CFD hiring process, but I'll pass on a few thoughts anyway.

I think by hire time you have to reside in the city, just like the police do.

I think the physical strength tests are tougher than the CPD ones, and you have to be considerably more fit than average to pass those, so I suggest if you're not already in super-shape you hit the gym and make sure you're appropriately prepared.

It would probably be good for you to review any information you've received from the department so far.

I'm pretty sure a polite status and procedure inquiry to the recruitment/personnel office wouldn't be out of line, given that there are always dates you can accidentally mess up on if you don't know where you are in the process.
