  • East Point Police Department

Hey, I recently applied with EPD and have a few questions. If anyone has any up to date info on them, please reply or PM me.

I am wondering about application process time frame, OT, take home car, etc.

A few stats about me: I/m young & close to finishing my associates degree, certified gang specialist, certified at-risk youth counselor, have experience in mental health (primarily forensic mental health), have taken courses/attended seminars in identifying human trafficking, crime prevention, drug identification, youth diversion, etc (to name a few)

    Appreciate your help in advance.

    Hey darts97,

I do not work for East point PD, but trained with them, share their gun range, jail facility, and started with some of the ofcs before I went to mandate. What I can tell you, is everyone process varies, it all depends on how fast you get stuff done, and how many background investigators are available. From what I seen from east point is before they send you to the academy, they do in- house training to mentally prepared their recruits for the academy in firearms, academies, etc. But, normally, a process can take anywhere between 3 weeks and 2 months here in GA. Mines was 3 weeks before I was hired and sent to the Fulton County Public Safety Center. I graduated 3 weeks ago, and have friend in the academy now for East Point.

That’s a big variation, thanks though quantez. Do you know if they have take home vehicles?

Just some info for y’all, I just spoke with a supervisor at the PD regarding my questions. Only detectives have take home cars, OT is offered on an as needed basis, and the process time varies. Good luck to y’all that are applying. I might reapply in a couple years, the age for police officers in GA changed & I’m not 21 yet.

I’m not sure they have take home cars, you’ll have call them and asked what’s benefits they provide for they’re Ofc’s.
