GBI is your best bet, or get hired on at a department at a civilian position and move to a Crime Scene Tech spot. Actually, unless you go to the GBI, you'll mostly be taking pictures and lifting fingerprints from crime scenes. I know in Cobb the S.O. has a few people that get called out to take pictures and lift prints...if the officer doesn't have a camera or print kit.
The problem is that there has been an influx of crime scene techs because of CSI....however there may be more recent vacancies when people realize techs don't interview or arrest subjects, carry a gun, and most of the times they don't get a badge. Gotta love TV.

I know APD has a crime scene unit but it's up to you if you want to work for them. I know they have had some bad publicity lately but do the research. I am sure each agencies techs are different. The best bet probably is to contact someone at the unit itself and get the info you need from them. They will have the best info for you.
