  • Intoxilyzer 9000 - Any departments using this yet?

From what I understand, the Intox 5000 is supposed to be phased out by 2015 and replaced with the Intox 9000.

Anyone had any experience with this machine yet?
There once was a man who said: "Though,
it seems that I know that I know,
what I'd like to see is the I that knows me,
when I know that I know that I know."

I went through the transition class at GPSTC a few months ago. They haven't set up our 9000 yet so I haven't had a chance to use it.

The county PD has one for their HEAT team that they will sometimes let us use, and I am trying to get my PD to buy us one, but so far all of us have to share the ONE(!) 5000 at the jail. There are about 1500 officers in the county, if not more.

Our department just transitioned over to it. I'm not certified for it, but most of our 5000 operators have been going to the transition class to get certified on the 9000.

A lot of controversy in Ohio over it. Only two agencies in the county still have the 5000 (and one of them almost never has an operator). Our local prosecutor won't prosecute anyone who was tested on the 9000.
