Atlanta to Hire 50 New officers

Just reported today in the AJC, that Atl Pd is to hire 50 new officers. Thought they were looking for around 150?

There were a list of other departments that were given grant money. Conyers, Morrow, Riverdale, Dekalb, Douglasville, Villa Rica etc.

Might be a good time to apply, but still competitive!

My understanding is the 150 is to not only cover the 50 officers under the Grant but also for attrition.

I'm putting my app in this week! Hopefully they have an academy around Feb or so.

@liljinx - You are correct! With a new administration coming in and many officers retiring at the end of the year, 50 new officers is not even a drop in the bucket for what we need.

Depending on who becomes mayor there is going to be a lot more hiring, 1 of the people running is pledging 750 officers in the next 4 years.

Yep I forgot all about the 2000 in 2000 campaign. and I agree his campaign commercials are not very appealing, and I am tired of his people calling my house!

ok. i want more officers too, but i think that WE DESERVE RAISES FIRST! you gotta keep the officers you have and then hire more.
