I was reading the job annoucement for the Gwinnett County Sheriffs Dept. and it explains you must enter the basic law enforcement academy within one year. My question is why would they hire you as a jailer if they actually want you to become a road patrol senior deputy? Does anyone know what the Sheriffs/jailer agility exam consist of? Also, how long is the Senior Deputy Sheriffs police academy?

The GCSO is a top notch agency, but they don't handle the patrol/investigations in Gwinnett County. Going "on the road" there is serving warrants and civil papers.
As for why they want their people going to the academy, it makes sense to have all deputies certified so that they can work in area of the SO's operations from the jail, to court services, to warrants/civil."Integrity is like virginity. Once it's lost, you can't get it back." --drunkhunter
