Greetings, I just wanted to see if anyone has ever been in the same situation with POST by having to appeal to get there PO cert back. I have to go to ATL and meet with the council. Just woundering has anyone else had to do this? thanks

I was wrongfully terminated by Gwinnett County S.O. after being cleared of any and all wrong doing in a investigation that was prompted by a inmate complaint. I was still under probation so they canned me. The Ga Post decides to go after my certification off of the allegded violations that I had been just cleared of. I had to endure a year long post investigation and had to meet with the attorney General Office to get the crap thrown out. The People at the Ga Post Council are extremely incompetent and constantly abuse their authority. Warning to any Ga Officers if you get terminated for anything right or wrong those bastards will come after you instead of looking into the matter before dragging you thru the mud with a post investigation and trust me if your placed under a post investigation you will be blackballed regardless of your situation.

I would disagree with this. My experience with them was nothing but great. They were very helpful in my appeal. In my case, I lost my cert for something that I actually did. I did not go in there and tell them that I didn't do it but went in there ant told them that I did do it, but have learned from the experience, I was a meat head, and that it would never happen again. My certification was reinstated unanimously.

In every step of the process, they were more then willing to help answer any questions and offer advice. They congratulated me and sent me on my way.

I would agree about the blackball part. The only shot I have been given is to get back with my old department who suspended me and am complete with the process but unfortunatley they are on a freeze until the 1st of next year.

I did not mean that everyone there was mean/rude or whatever. The IN in my area is actually very nice. She was very helpful in getting my packet together, and offered some good advice. My case all happened about ten years ago, and it was for som dumb meat head crapp too, speeding, being a crap head on the radio, crap like that is why I was asked to leave or be fired. And I did what you said, I did not say oh it was not me, and I am the victim, I said yea, I was young (22) and dumb and was so in love that I was the Police, that I did not take advantage of the situation, I took it for granted.... So anyway, I just hope I have a shot at getting back, there is like 15 agencys in my area, I hope someone will take a chance on me.

Well I did not do anything wrong I was screwed by Gwinnett SO. and then I had to endure that garbage at post. But let me say this I kept the faith and now Im with the Feds making way more money then I would have at Gwinnett
I was bitter for awhile it hurt to be terminated for no cause from a job that you really enjoyed and I really liked working at Gwinnett SO. After I beat Post and got my cert back I tried in vain to get hired by another agency no one would give me a chance not even with the proof in hand that I had done nothing wrong. I had to leave the State of Ga to get back in Law Enforcment thats a shame but the truth. If you really believe in yourself and if you have goals then dont give up I got dealt a bad hand its an experience that I will never forget but I had to move past it I could not let it be a crutch. And you have to learn to forgive and move on its a part of the healing process.

Does anyone know, if you lose yoru certifcation, can you move to another state and be certified there? I did not break any laws, but POST elected to not give me back my certification.

You would not be able to transfer your certification but another state may be willing to certify you if you go through thier training.

You are so very right they keep the officers who have been arrested for beating their wife and other things I have seen first hand and then treat you like **** unless you are a friend. I left a job in 1986 and went into the army when I got out I was hired a another place 2 times because I left but when it came back to get the cert done what the 1986 office said held me back so I paid the 200 fee to appeal and lost it hell I was in the military intell with a top secert clearance and they tell me I'm not what they want what a bunch of *** holes all because of a lie told in 1986 and me taking the blam to keep my training sgt's job because he had kids. did not appeal till I belive around 2001 and they still held that on me from 1986 yet I had a top secert clearence what a joke all of them
