Does anyone think the D.O.T. hiring personnel would want to know about a potential hire who was hideously rude at a traffic stop that was initiated by himself?
Here's the scenario: Approximately 1:00 a.m. One officer cruising along paying attention to oncoming traffic (of which is very little) and not the vehicle driving appropriately just ahead of said officer.
Another officer comes up alongside first officer (4 lane hwy with a center turn lane) and then pulls ahead just behind the appropriately driven vehicle. Appropriately driven vehicle brakes suddenly and jerks vehicle to the right onto the shoulder of the road. Second officer pulls in behind the vehicle then displays lights (possible vehicle problems??). Officer approaches driver and driver's response to sudden pull off is "I don't like the police behind me."
First officer, turns around and pulls in behind stop to offer assistance, if necessary (a quiet stand-by) and no approach of vehicle with first officer.
While discussing whether or not a violation occurred and awaiting driver information, driver honks horn. Bad attitude was already noted by the first officer.
Upon second approach of vehicle, driver becomes beligerant with officer to include cuss words. Driver states he's former Army m.p.(??) and is about to be hired on with the Florida D.O.T. and that the encounter was wrong. Driver demands both officers' names and badge numbers and stomps on it when driving away prior to officer fully stepping away from vehicle.
If he can't handle that, HOW the H**L is he going to handle the bad dudes who truly do things to get to him or "harrass" him.
