Not to rub salt in anyone's wounds. But I just spoke with my background investigator. So looks like I'm moving forward. Never received an email though. To add an extra suggestion (something I did) I would try to make as many inner agency connections as possible. I was told that if I didn't make this cut to apply to a position within the agency because it helps get your name out there. I would definitely make connections to officers besides recruiters.

Also in my opinion I agree with SaltyDog the interview is the single handed most important part. You have to make a connection to your panel and sell yourself as best possible.

ChristianAB98 I don’t think you’re understanding my point. The reason you are moving forward now is because someone with a higher score isn’t moving forward. That’s why you are just now finding out your moving forward. It’s been 3 weeks since I received my offer. The only way you can move forward is by having a good enough score on your interview.

I’ve completed pych eval and background and haven’t heard anything back.. I believe due to an arrest showing up on background that I had no recollection of might have ruined my chances for this academy if that’s the case I’ll apply again

Yeah that may hurt your chances for this cycle. How far back was the arrest if you don't mind me asking. because they are definitely going to wonder why you hadn't said anything.

It happened in 2015 and I was smoking marijuana and didn’t remember signing a NTA I was high…
Majd I did my psych eval 2 weeks ago and I met my background investigator face to face on Monday morning at which point she told me it was completed. My recruiter said they would be stupid to not higher me because of that I have been in the military for 5 years and I scored in the top 65 in interviews which is why I was moved along so fast, if I don’t make it this go around I’ll just have to include that in my application and I’ll be in the next cycle but I haven’t received any word back on what they think because my BI has until this Friday to submit everything

I just googled her and the person with law enforcement psychological screening experience. Its not a common field to work in and she is the only person in Florida with that name and set experience.

Honestly, a psychologist can make or break the hiring process. I applied with local sheriff's office few years back for telecommunicator position (I had torn ACL prior to going through FWC hiring process and thought while I waited out the next year and a half until next application I could at least get some comm/10 code experience under my belt). Passed everything with flying colors then got to psych and got an email the following week saying they're revoking my conditional offer.

The dude said my results were odd in the sense that I didn't pick things that were traditionally female. (i.e. I would enjoy a career as a cosmetologist? I answered strongly disagree. As a forest ranger? Strongly agree) Didn't think that was odd as I suspect most females who apply in law enforcement are probably a little more tom-boyish/not interested in strictly "feminine careers". Then he went off on a tangent about views on sexuality. I was honest and said I was raised Catholic and have traditional views on sexuality/marriage but that doesn't mean I would ever discriminate against someone on the job who had different orientations.

Never found out if my psych was the reason I didn't get hired. Only other thing I can think of was that I was honest in the interview and told them being a telecommunicator was not my dream job but rather a stepping stone. At the end of the day, it can really depend on whether your psych likes you or not.

Best of luck though, one mistake from the past doesn't define your character or what kind of person you are now. Hopefully they see that.

I just received my conditional over the phone with gabby. Some people are not going to get letters like me. She is sending over my conditional as we speak. She told me she has a list of people who are directly getting their conditionals and she would be calling them today.

Hey guys, found this recently and have been waiting nearly a week to be allowed to post. Marine Corps vet, bilingual and have been applying since 2017 first interview was during last years cycle. I received an email that said I didn't move past the INTERVIEW PHASE I was crushed.

This year I made it past the interview and I did my psych eval on 8/20. I still haven't heard back from my BI or Gabrielle. So I'm really hoping that, I am still in the running I'll keep you guys posted if I here anything.

So out of all the applicants in here, only ONE has heard back a positive confirmation?

Good luck, I've heard a few stories of guys applying year after year until they get it. Definitely a competitive hiring process. I've applied since 2019 but like you this year was the first year I got to go through the hiring cycle. 2019 tore my ACL prior to PAT and 2020 was cancelled due to COVID.

Fingers crossed for good news but if not I have a job and academy position lined up with my local PD. Figured if I'm still interested in conservation law enforcement down the road can reapply and will have my state of FL cert by then so might make me a more competitive candidate knowing they'd only have to send me to breakout.

Any advice from anyone that just completed the psych eval or insight as to how it is? I got some information from someone already on this forum but looking to see different views of it. Btw I have mine in a couple weeks

Don’t answer the question as you think they want you to answer them. When you read the question select the very first thing that pops in your head. Pay very close attention in the True/False section. A fair amount of question already contain a negative remark in the question. For example “I have never had suicidal thoughts” Overall don’t overthink it and read everything carefully. It was my first psych evaluation ever but I felt that the interview with the psych was the most important part.

NX333, it’s not bad longest part is answering questions atleast 3 hours of clicking answers to questions then the actual interview with the psychologist is fairly quick

She doesn't give you a single clue as to how well/bad you did!!!! This is torture man!
