Does anyone have any information about West Palm Beach P.D. How many sworn officers? How large of a department? Currently hiring? Department morale? ETC. Any info greatly appreciated.

About 300 sworn officers. Big hiring push right now. Starting next week we will have about 30 in the academy (14 graduating in June, 2 in August and 14 in November). We just got a 7% raise on Monday and our agreement is up at the end of September.

Hey, I was wondering, would you know if they are hiring to sponor candidates or are they only hiring certified candidates.

They are doing only a limited number of sponsorships to the Academy. The department is looking to hire a few more, but should top out at 325 by the end of the year. Like most agencies, preference is given to certified officers. That pay raise is 2% for topped out officers and 5% for those with less than 7 years. the city will be eliminating a pay step. The new contract is in October (maybe) and we'll see where that leads us. By the way, there aren't 30 in the Academy but we are still taking apps. AMUNOZ, are you a candidate here?

The website says they no longer offer online applications and that an application must be picked up in person and submitted in person.

Problem is, I am an out of stater. Do they not mail applications to out of state people?

Also, would it be better to apply as a person from out of state or move down there first?

I suggest that you call the Human Resources number on the website. Our recruiter wasn't aware that they stopped sending out applications, so maybe that is an error. We are still accepting applications.
