PBSO Hiring Freeze

Can anyone please enlighten me on the latest? I haven't received any word since this 'hiring freeze' came into the picture. I passed my background and I am in the 'selection process'. I have called my HR contact and she hasn't replied. Any information would be appreciated...

I would imagine that a freeze would only affect those just applying to the agency, BUT, i could be completely wrong.

I was told the Freeze should Melt the end of April. I've been in Selection since Feb.07. E-mail don't call.

There's a freeze in my area as well. For us they say it's because of the property tax/sales tax battle going on in Tallahassae. Not sure if this applies to you all though.

originally they were holding until 4/27 but the latest ( i heard last week) was they are extending it till october. new fiscal year.

certified also. i know guys who self sponsored and applied with them. they completed the academyin january and were told they would be hired but had to wait until 4/27. now they are sawing oct. oct is the rumor i heard

That's what I hear too. I am seeking sponsorship. I went ahead and got the ok to attend the academy @ CC on 29 May. I am going to do that.

I would love to work for the SO but if it doesn't work out I know when I am done there will be other agencies. If anyone was in the same boat as me, seeking sponsorship, did all your tests and are in the selection process, send me a PM or e-mail.

Well, that news sure blows.Customs and Border Protection is starting to look a whole lot better. I'd have to retake it all over again, that would make it three times and that won't do for me. I can hold my head high and say I made it a lot further than most, (Selection Pool Twice) passed everything!
Oh well, maybe The Big Guy Upstairs is looking out for me.

who knows, it was just the rumor i heard and thought i would pass it along.

i had gone through something similar in that i processed with pbso and went through everything, was told i was good to go, then didn't hear anything for about a month. i would call and call, they just told me to hold on and wait. i put out another app, processed with that agency, got hired and sponsored by them through the academy. in the third week of the academy i got the call from pbso saying i got the job so come in on such and such date and time. actually 6 guys in my class got that call. two were self sponsored and left to take the job and go to the broward academy.
