    The Institute of Public Safety is a licensed Criminal Justice Training Center. This position is a training specialist/coordinator for primarily Advanced and Specialized programs and limited coordinator of Basic Recruit courses under the auspices of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's (FDLE) Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC). Responsibilities include the collection and identification of training needs with local criminal justice agencies; identification, selection, and credentialing of instructors; review of appropriate curricula; development of test items; analytical review of exams; supervision of instructors; recordkeeping; tracking of student attendance, makeup work, and evaluation of instructors; and ensuring conformity with CJSTC rules for Advanced and Specialized courses, and basic courses. This position requires knowledge and experience in the criminal justice field in Florida. This position requires attention to detail in compliance with rules of the College and the CJSTC. This position reports to the Director and Associate Director of the Institute of Public Safety. This position may act as a coordinator for at least one basic recruit program per year. Other related duties as assigned.
    Responsibilities and duties may include:
    • Coordinate and administer the Basic Recruit Training programs, faculty, students, equipment and facilities (both Law Enforcement and Correction) as well as for the CJSTC Advanced and Specialized programs.
    • Compliance with CJSTC Rules and guidance. Schedule programs, evaluate and assign instructors in the Basic Recruit Law Enforcement and Corrections courses as well as CJSTC Advanced and Specialized courses.
    • Supervise and evaluate faculty teaching in the Basic Recruit Program as well as in the Advanced and Specialized Programs. Create and maintain instructor personnel files at the Institute of Public Safety.
    • Responsible for testing material and its development and maintenance into a computerized data bank and computerized scoring system.
    • Coordinate the law enforcement agency training staff assigned to the Institute of Public Safety as coordinators for the basic training programs and for the Advanced and Specialized programs.
    • Work with FDLE and the IPS liaison for the development and implementation of the New Basic Recruit Curriculum.
    • Recommend student discipline.
    • Maintain FDLE/CJSTC Automated Training Management Systems records for all instructors assigned to the programs.
    • Responsible for the reporting and registrations of agency in-service training program.
    • Responsible for quality assurance for CJSTC Basic Recruit, Advanced, and Specialized Training programs.

    QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's degree or a combination of appropriate education and experience equal to six years is required with at least two years of experience in the criminal justice field. Experience in coordination of CWE training is desired. A criminal background check will be conducted.
