  • florida department of juvenile justice

hello all I was considering about going into juvenile probation for the state of florida and I was wondering if anybody knew any information on that occupation such as work schedule, salary, promotions, typical work day. pros/cons etc.

The pay is a lot lower than working for DOC. Also, DJJ employees (whether probation or detention officers) aren't certified corrections or correctional probation officers and therefore do not have the same authority as LEOs, COs, or CPOs. I also don't believe that they qualify for high risk retirement because of that.

There's one DJJ facility in my city, and when something happens there the DJJ staff has to call us to investigate and initiate any criminal charges. They don't have the authority to do it themselves.
