BROOKSVILLE, FL -- A man accused of shooting four people at a home in Brooksville has been shot following a shootout in Dixie County.

Detectives say a Dixie County captain was also injured following a shootout in Cross City with 55-year-old John Kalisz, was is suspected of shooting 4 people inside a Brooksville home earlier today.

Both the suspect and the deputy were taken to Shands Hospital in Gainesville.

According to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office. Kalisz shot four people at 15203 Wilhelm Street just before 3 p.m.

2 elderly women were killed authorities say, and a pregnant teen and a nurse who was at the home were taken to the hospital.

The condition of the living victims is not known.

Kalisz is the teen's uncle. He was believed to be driving a 1993 Aerostar Van with Colorado Tag 555SMY.

It is a white van with a back window broken out and covered with cardboard.

Kalisz is related to at least 2 of the victims. He told his brother that he would shoot any law enforcement officer that tried to stop him.

          RIP Capt. Reed....
The sheep generally do not like the sheepdog. He looks a lot like the wolf. He has fangs and the capacity for violence. The difference, though, is that the sheepdog must not, cannot and will not ever harm the sheep. Any sheepdog who intentionally harms the lowliest little lamb will be punished and removed.
