  • Lauderhill police officer hurt during traffic stop

    JUST AN FYI:

A Lauderhill police officer suffered a broken leg during a traffic stop Thursday, Lauderhill police said.

The traffic stop took place about 3:45 p.m. near Northwest 52nd Avenue and 25th Street, police spokesman Capt. Rick Rocco said.

``At some point during the stop, and we aren't sure when exactly, he was injured by the car,'' Rocco said.

The officer was airlifted to Broward General Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale. His name was not released.

Within an hour, officers had a person detained, but Rocco said investigators had not labeled him the suspect.

Hope everything turns out ok. Just saw him getting taken off Air Rescue on Scandal-7 News. He looked pretty banged up. Prayers are with him.

Note to self - have conversation with our FD, make sure they know to cover up my boxers if the news is ever around.

Thoughts and prayers out to the officer, glad it isn't worse.

yea and it doesnt seem normal to air transport someone for a broken leg, officer or not...

the way he is strapped down looks like the car got a good piece of him and ran over more then just his leg, possibly his whole body.

I've seen people life flightedmultiple times for fractured legs, especially femur. Anytime you have severe trauma in any area they are going to immobilize you on a backboard/stretcher.

Prayers out to him, hoping for a quick recovery.
