Just found out the new name is P.A.A

    PHYSICAL ABILITIES ASSESSMENT (PAA)

These are the five physical fitness components that will be measured during the
    assessment.

    1. Vertical Jump. This measures leg power and consists of measuring how high a
    person jumps.

    2. One Minute Sit Ups. This measures abdominal or trunk muscular endurance.
While lying on his or her back, the student will be given one minute do do as
many bent leg sit ups as possible.

    3. 300 Meter Run. This measures anaerobic power or the ability to make an
intense burst of effort for a short time period or distance. This component
    consists of sprinting 300 meters.

    4. Maximum push-ups. This measures the muscular endurance of the upper
body. This component consists of doing as many push-ups as possible until
    muscular fatigue develops.

    5. 1.5 Mile Run. This measures aerobic power or cardiovascular endurance
(stamina over time). To complete this component, the student must run or walk
as fast as possible for a distance of 1.5 miles.

Attention: Applicants wanting the PAA for other agencies should check with their
department. The new assessment may not meet requirements for FHP or DOT
    standards.

PRIOR TO ADMINISTERING THE PAA, WE MUST HAVE A COMPLETED AUTHORIZATION FORM FROM YOUR PHYSICIAN AND A RELEASE / WAIVER OF LIABILITY FORM

These forms are located at the end of the Physicial Abilities Assessment information packet.
    WadsonF 10-4's the above statement.

So it's like cooper standards... minus the "standards" part. You don't have to pass, you just have to complete it. What's the point?

        The 1.5 mile isn't timed?
It is Attitude, not circumstance, that makes Success possible even in the most unlikely conditions.

I don't get it either. As long as you complete all phases, you're golden?

Typical Brevard County Pool... BCC should have nothing to do with the hiring process. It's just a bunch of over-egotisitcal retirees/wannabe's who can't get over themselves on this "power" they have over your new career..
The sheep generally do not like the sheepdog. He looks a lot like the wolf. He has fangs and the capacity for violence. The difference, though, is that the sheepdog must not, cannot and will not ever harm the sheep. Any sheepdog who intentionally harms the lowliest little lamb will be punished and removed.

            I Am the Sheepdog.

Yeah, you just have to "complete" it.

              Wow.

I went and visited during the PAA one saturday, and just saw a bunch of overweight guys there. No more timed test....
