    Windsor wants to do a quick process I guess. Written in Nov and academy in Feb..



    The Town of Windsor is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. Starting salary is $55,313.00 with an excellent benefits package. At date of hire the applicant must be a U.S. citizen, at least 21 years of age, have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record, a high school diploma or GED, and pass a criminal background. Motivation, enthusiasm, and a commitment to the community are a must.

    Testing includes physical agility exam, written exam, oral exam, report writing exercise, extensive background investigation, psychological exam, polygraph exam and physical with drug screen exam.

    Valid CHIP card accepted, but not required, to take written test.

    Successful candidates will be required to pass the certification-training program at the Police Academy starting February, 2010.

      I have no idea, I don't know anything about this dept or anyone who works there, just say it and thought I'd share. I've just never seen a quick process like this, approx 3.5 months from written to academy according to what they say in their packet..

        Thanks for the response. I saw that, and being the cynic that I am, My first Thought is " OK why is it that fast"

              Received this today. Looks like it's for two positions. I wont be able to attend due to prior commitment in VT with Burlington.

              This letter explains the process for both the Physical Agility Test and the Written Exam. The Physical Agility Test and Written Exam will be conducted on Saturday, November 14, 2009, beginning with the Physical Agility Test at 8:00 a.m. IF YOU HAVE A VALID CHIP CARD YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SHOW UP FOR THE PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST – go to the written exam as indicated below. If you pass the Physical Agility Test you must take the Written Exam on the same day. The test times are as follows:

              We will be conducting a portion of the Physical Fitness testing outside. It is recommended that you wear comfortable athletic clothing. You must complete the attached Physical Fitness Waiver form and bring it with you to hand in prior to taking the Physical Agility Test.



              Below you will find a form detailing the Physical Ability Standards for the State of Connecticut. If you do not have a valid CHIP card, you must pass the Physical Agility Test to qualify for the Written Exam, which will also be given the same day. Please arrive at the Written Examination room at 12:30 p.m. to check-in prior to the start of the exam. You must bring your valid driver's license to the Written Exam. If you have a valid CHIP card and/or military DD-214, you must bring them with you on the day of the Written Exam in order to be excused from taking the Physical Agility Test.











              If you plan on taking the Physical Agility Test and/or the Written Exam, you must respond (RSVP) to the Human Resources Office at the following email address: [email protected] . Your email must be received by 12:00 noon on Monday, November 9, 2009.



              YOUR RSVP MUST CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:



              INDICATE IF YOU HAVE A CHIP CARD, AND THEREFORE WILL ONLY BE TAKING THE WRITTEN EXAM AT 12:30 PM.



              OR,



              INDICATE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A VALID CHIP CARD, AND THEREFORE WILL TAKE THE PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST AT 8:00 AM, FOLLOWED BY THE WRITTEN EXAM AT 12:30 PM (SUBJECT TO YOUR PASSING THE PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST).

                Ive heard of departments going that fast. A friend of mine just recently took the Madison written and oral, and was given a conditional offer at the oral board. Three weeks later he started the academy. So yeah, its rare, but they can move fast.
