Lots of shaking in Newport Beach, but no tsunamis have swamped the house.
Family in Santa Monica say they had a lot of shaking as well.
Phone lines to Topanga appear to be down so I can't get a status report from my G/F.Going too far is half the pleasure of not getting anywhere

Down here in South OC, I'd say it was like a 4.0 at most. For me, the "big one" was the Sylmar quake of 1971. I lived in Sylmar. In backgrounds ...

It woke me up, two hours before my alarm... Strongest one I have felt since I moved here in 05. I immediately knew my fellow o.com folks would have a thread started before I could get the computer fired up!Originally Posted by VegasMetro

My sister lives in Chino Hills but works in Riverside. Guess I'll wait till later to call her.
Most interesting earthquake experience I ever had was back in the late 60s when a series of 5.0 or so quakes hit Santa Barbara. During one of them I was on the beach. Really weird because there wasn't a sound, since there wasn't anything to rattle. Being on the sand was a bit like being on water with it rising and falling in gentle waves.Last edited by rubyrose; 07-29-2008, 03:35 PM.Hatred never ceases by hatred, but by love alone is healed.
