  • CDCR Questions

I am currently in the hiring process with the CDCR, and have a Few questions. I have read that CDCR Officers are sworn under PC 830.2 and are allowed to carry while on and off duty, but I have seen plenty of pictures of officers working in the prisons with no firearms is there a reason for this? Also is it possible to internally transfer to other Jobs such as working as a parole agent without starting the hiring process all over again? Thank you!

Okay to answer the first part, yes CO's with the CDCR are considered peace officers and can carry on-off duty like most fully sworn officers in CA,.
The second part sounds like really dumb or youre trolling. You better understand what job you applied for and why you CANNOT hip-carry a firearm while walking the tier, other than you being in a control booth, the front gate, or the tower.

You do not bring a firearm within the jails or prisons.
