    DS Michelle -

Here are the numbers which MAY have more time to talk to you and help you with your search. They are non-emergency numbers of the four entities which are near Cedars Sinai...

LAPD Hollywood Community Relations Office (CRO) 213/485-4316.

LAPD Wilshire CRO 213/473-0200. NOTE: C/S is in their area

LASD West Holllywood CRO 310/855-8850, Ext.423. NOTE: C/S is across the street from them.

Beverly Hills PD non-emergency desk 310/285-2122.

Again, perhaps calling them and telling them who you are, and the nature of your trip, may yield assistance you may not have expected...but we'll never know, until you try. Good luck to you.

Thank you for the hotel listings that you found...I will call and find out more information. And I do have AAA, so I'm glad I can put that to use. I will be traveling from June 2-12.

    Thanks again for your help

Cedars Sinai is located in the middle of where LAPD's Hollywood and Wilshire areas, and the LASD's West Hollywood station come together, throw in Beverly Hills PD, too, at the west-side of the circle around C/S.

I'll be back to work on Sunday, and I'll try to get you the desk phone numbers...perhaps when you explain who you are, and what your in town for, the respective desk officers/deupties might be able to recommend a lesser known, but good hotel for your needs....let's hope my call load is a small one, on Mother's day.

    Regards,
    KM

You might also ask if they have a hospital rate that would come in cheaper than the AAA. A lot of times places will do that if you call to make the reservations. If you can get a place that serves breakfast and dinner like Homewood Suites you can cut a whole lot out of your food budget depending on how many are in your party. I know Homewood Suites in Seattle would even give free shuttle rides 24/7 which would cut out the car rental also if they do it in LA also.

Price is often ruled by when you are travelling, so if you are coming during the summer, you're facing vacation rates.

I found these - AAA rate for May/June

Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles Century City Beverley Hills
    from $154.00 USD
    10320 West Olympic Boulevard
    Los Angeles, CA 90064 US

Holiday Inn Express Century City, Ca
    from $152.11 USD
    10330 West Olympic Boulevard
    Los Angeles, CA 90064 US

Best Western Royal Palace Inn & Suites
    from $114.00 USD
    2528 South Sepulveda Boulevard
    Los Angeles, CA 90064 US

These are all 3 stars from AAA, and have a guarenteed rate. If you don't have AAA, it's cheap to join, and worth the discounts.

Extended Stay is one of the chains that has studios for longer stays. Closest I found was LAX area.

You know, their are some very good independent hotels around that charge much less than the big name hotels. You could possibly look into one of those after you arrive and see which ones fit your needs. They are usually older but since you are going to be spending most of your time in the hospital anyway it is just a bed and shower.

My rule of thumb for SoCal is if you see bars on house windows then you're in the wrong neighborhood, generally.

Michelle, try going through the "Reserve a Room" portal through the Southwest Airlines website. You don't need to use the airline to book a room, and they have discounted rates. I've also had good luck with gov't rates at Best Western.

I guess I will look a little ways away from the Medical Center and look into an Extended Stay kinda hotel.

Extended stays will probably save you $$ on meals etc.

You can also try the "government rate".

If the hospital doesn't have options, check with AAA. They have regional guides with listings, and the AAA discount is the best one out there. It's usually better then the government discounts.

HR 218 covers you, even in CA. If this is going to be an extended stay call the hospital and see if they have a place for you. I know when my dad was killed and mom injured in TN they had a house for my sister and I to stay in so we didn't have to pay for a month of hotel rooms. All they told us was to replace anything we used.

  • Need to find a safe, decent hotel near Cedar Sinai Medical Center

Can anyone give me suggestions on a safe, decent hotel (not too expensive either) that is close to the Cedar Sinai Medical Center? I would prefer it to be within walking distance if possible.

Also, I am an LEO in Orlando, FL and I was wondering what the laws are in CA for me to travel with/ carry my firearm on me.
