Any socal agencies accept out of state lateral?

Hi,

I know CA Post has a basic waiver for out of state applicants who have the AZ Post certificate. However, it is up to the agencies discretion to accept the Ca post waiver. Of the agencies I have been looking for in socal, they require graduation from a CA post academy.

Do you know of any agency that accepts of out state laterals without going to the CA post certified academy or going to an accelerated academy? Thank you!

I am not personally aware of any. My suggestion would be to contact the agency you have an interest in and ask them if they would be willing to do so. I would imagine that if they do, you would still have to attend at least a portion of their academy to learn and become familiar with CA laws and ordinances.

We have had laterals from Washington state. They had to complete the waiver course (couple of weeks I think) and then our department was willing to hire them. You will need to check with each department you are interested in as it will vary greatly from department to department. Some agencies wont even take a CA Post and want you to go through their own academy.
