CA peace officers - hi cap mags/rifles

Does anybody know the deal on peace officer (830.1 if that matters) exemptions for possessing/purchasing high cap rifle mags and LE AR rifles? I was recently hired by a SoCal department that authorizes personally owned rifles for duty use. What is the deal with collapsible stocks, high cap mags, etc? Can they purchased with PD ID, etc?

(Note: I'm coming from an equally obnoxious gun state in Massachusetts but LEO's get a pass on high cap mags and post ban guns.)

Yes you can purchase high cap mags with your ID however you need a letter from your department before purchasing a rifle without a bullet button

How about collapsible stocks? That's a LEO only feature in Mass.

The key to remember here is that there is a LEO exemption for pretty much every CA gun law. Some more strict than others, from "having a badge/ID is enough" all the way to what BanditLAPD said.

Stocks you can order off the internet without ID, they are not controlled in CA. Off roster guns and high cap mags are ID only. AW's and 10 day wait exemption are letterhead.
