  • Headed to L.A

Hey guys I'm headed to LA in the next few weeks from Northern California. Are there any restaurants or anything that I should see? I've got Angels tickets and also Dodger tickets. Any food that I should try there?

Philippe's "French Dipped Sandwich". Right near Union station. I a;ways loved them along with the chili and beans.

Pink's hot dogs. Hit up some of the popular food trucks. Try some of the food network chef spots that are scattered around LA. Yelp the rest!

Other officer: Oh that's right, I forgot, you're God's gift to police work.
Me: At least someone recognizes it.

Turns out basic police work isn't so hard, you just have to leave the station.

When I worlked in LA, my guys used to eat there all the time. The place has been there since 1924 and is open 24 hours a day. While the food isn't exactly gourmet, they serve tons of it and you will walk away fat.

There is also El Tepeyac for Mexican food. They have the Hollenbeck Special, a giant, five pound burrito. Supposedly if you eat the whole thing by yourself, you get a second one free. Years back a lot of cops used to eat there. I don't know if they still do.

The Los Angeles Police Revolver And Athletic Club operates a restaurant and a separate bar (yes bar) at the LA Police Academy. The Revolver Club owns the grounds and leases it to the city to hold the academy there.

The restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch. The bar is open in the evenings. The last time I was there it was a haven for badge bunnies.

Really good Chili Burgers! Whenever I'm visiting the L.A. area this is my favorite place to eat: http://www.originaltommys.com
Never been there, because I was always way to busy, but some friends at the CHP and the San Bernardino SD told me to go there:
                  http://www.kingtaco.com
And if you have nothing planed for a friday night:
                  http://cinespia.org
Take a folding chair (small one) or a blanket, some wine/beer, some food and enjoy the movie!
I've been there last year and it really was worth it!
Oh and take the parking ticket on the cemetery!
Gates will open 7:30 pm, movie will start 9 pm.

Thank you everyone for the responses. I'm getting fatter just listening about these places. Are there any tips for Angel Stadium and Dodger Stadium? I've been to Angel stadium once but didn't explore too much.

Can't go wrong with Langer's Deli. Lot of good recommendations in this thread.
