  • I took the poly last week and while I told the truth 100%, the examiner said that I showed a reaction to a specific question. The examiner said that they were unable to tell me if I passed or failed and that they need to send the results to a quality control specialist before issuing a pass/fail given the reaction.

They said I should hear from them on Tuesday, but it’s now Friday and I still haven’t heard from anyone. It’s really frustrating because I laid everything on the table and was completely truthful.

Has this happened to anyone else during the hiring process? Did you end up passing or failing? Take a second one or one and done?

Yeah that happened to me, my Bi contacted me and reviewed my answers with her interview but I passed

Don't sweat it. LAPD, LASD, and Riverside all had me do 2 polygraphs, and I passed all of them. As long as you're honest, you'll be fine.

        • Took had my interview with the psychologist. It was the shortest interview I ever had. In and out in 20 minutes or less.

          • How long after the poly did it take for references to receive their letters?

            • I just took my poly and I’m really confused about the outcome. I had 2 reactions after being 100 percent honest. The proctor allowed me to explain to him the embarrassing reasons why and told me he was satisfied by what I gave him. I didn’t change my answers, write a statement just two valid reasons. I don’t know if I passed now because the overall interview went well, or if I’m going to have to retake it?
does the bi have any say on whether you pass or not because me and my bi have a really good rapport.

              • Logically speaking, if you passed the questions about lying on your background packet and a question if there’s anything in your past that could disqualify you. Shouldn’t that be sufficient? Being logical.

My references received letters a couple of weeks before I took the poly. I think it just depends on your B.I.

Sounds like you are in the same boat as me. I was 100% honest, but I had a reaction to 1 question. I explained myself and filled out the statement and was told that I’d here from them on the next business day. I took my poly over 2 weeks ago and still haven’t heard back from anyone.

                    • Are there any plans on making Riverside County Detention Deputies sworn law enforcement in the future? If so, who is pushing the effort?

                      • Oh I didn’t fill out any statements. I just explained the situations in which justified my reactions. I didn’t change my answers tho my bi is going to review and determine if I get rescheduled.

In my opinion I don’t think RSD will ever make their Correctional Deputies fully sworn like their Deputy Sheriffs are. The CDs would have to go through the full 6 month academy.

There are corrections-only academies which are much shorter; San Diego runs their corrections folks through a short academy. CDCR corrections folks are fully sworn and only have a 16-week academy.
