Is it safe to assume if I haven't been assigned a BI, that I will not make it to the May class?

You never know, but from my experience after being assigned to a BI it is a minimal time of approximately 3 months for a background check to be completed if everything goes smoothly.

Its not out of the question. If you're fast-tracked, you could very well make the May academy.

Thanks for the responses guys. Hopefully I start moving in the process again. I haven't heard anything since the "cattle call" that took place on 1/15/15.

I heard April 13th start as well from someone currently in one of the academies. Others have said May.

I received notice to send in my BG packet by the 16th, anyone else on the same train as me? Williampenn posted that there would be a May academy. I also heard through the grapevine that SF is looking to ramp up to as many as 5 academy classes a year.
That would be good news for those of us in queue.

Just got assigned my background investigator and meeting her on Friday. Pretty excited that I am moving along in the process! Probably won't make the April academy, but at least that means I will still have time to go to my brothers graduation in May.

What places would you guys recommend for someone attending SFPD academy to live in? SF itself is probably out of the question because of the cost...
