  • Another accuses Seaside police officer of sexual battery

A Seaside police officer now faces allegations of sexual battery against six females, two of whom are under the age of 18.

The Monterey County District Attorney’s Office filed a second amended complaint today against Officer Salvador Reynaga to include sexual battery and child molesting of a girl under the age of 18.

Reynaga was arrested March 7, initially facing 16 counts of assault with the intent to commit mayhem or specified sex offenses, sexual battery and committing assault while acting in an official position against two women. On April 12, the District Attorney’s Office amended the complaint to include the accusations of three more women who came forward to claim similar charges.

At his arraignment this afternoon, Reynaga faced a total of 39 counts of committing assault while acting in an official position, sexual battery with restraint, sexual battery, assault with the intent to commit a felony, child molesting and possession of an assault weapon.

Reynaga pleaded not guilty to all charges filed against him.

According to the complaint filed at the county Superior Court, the crimes were allegedly committed between Nov. 19, 2009 and Feb. 25, 2011.

Reynaga is expected to return to court June 21.
