Dude one day you might get popped for DUI after having one too many drinks at a bar with your buddies...... a mistake anyone of us can make.....would you want your co-workers to treat you the same way as you suggested....probably not. What these individuals allegedly did is not right but don't be too quick to judge.......anyone can find themselves in the hot seat real easy.

Lets hope for the best for these individuals and lets not judge anyone until we know the facts.....
X2 just addressed the gender thing, so I'll pick up where she left off....

First, re: the DUI....NO, I do NOT drive after having even 1 beer. My job isn't worth it. So, while you may think it's an innocent mistake to drive under the influence, I see it as a serious offense and treat it as such regardless of what the violator does for a living.

Any Deputy or officer that would hit their spouse is a low life, and they, also, will be treated as the law dictates. If they treat their spouse/significant other like that, how are they treating the public? Worse would be my guess. And it's not "on a regular BASES," as that context implies being on base such as in baseball....it's "on a regular BASIS."

Describe "downed suspect." That is rather ambiguous, and open to too much interpretation. Please be more specific.

Apparently, you couldn't cut it in LE and are now bitter. Understandable. But don't come here with all your crap like in the above post dude. We don't buy it.

I do agree with one thing though....let the case work its way through the system.

Am I reading this indictment correctly...a sheriff's captain had to use credits from classes he didn't attend to receive his intermediate & advanced POST certificates? One of those classes was the basic traffic collision course?

I would assume the Captain had the education and years experience to qualify for his POST certificates a long time ago.. This just doesn't make any sense to me..

This exemplifies the general moral decline of our society.

Regardless of whether this alleged behavior was or was not risky, it was flat-out wrong. Of all people, that should matter to cops.

Before you make a comment you should know what you are talking about. I did not take a break from the job because I could not cut it......I simply needed a break to run my two businesses. Unlike you I have skills that I can use to make money and plan to use them when I retire after finishing ten more years after I go back on the job....... which is real soon.

Have you even gone 10-8 on the streets yet or are you still working the jails? From your remarks on this forum you sure sound like a boot still working the jails.

                You know what’s interesting?

In a poly graph I wasn’t targeted for drug questions. You know, they try and pick away at something about you and see if they can get you to balk.

For me it was about academic cheating (which I haven’t). See, I have no problem failing in life. I’ve failed at a lot of things. Interviewers have poked at me about my having been removed from a graduate program for academic failure (I had a 2.7GPA when a 3.0 is required), but at the end of the day I tried again later and did it. So I’m still the only one in the interview room with a master’s degree.

My point is the attempt to pry at my failures regardless of my success beyond those who haven’t failed out of lack of trying.

So I can see where this creates a culture of simply lying without any concern for a conscious.

Perfection is required and so the perception of it is delivered.

If you guys didn't have unions turn over would be insane and lying would be more rampant.

It was merely a question! Now how is that immature?

You are the one who posted your own information...for us to see.

Okay...so now you are more specific with "Southern California"....that answers my question.
This profession is not for people looking for positive reinforcement from the public. Very often it can be a thankless job and you can't desire accolades, because those are not usually forthcoming. Just do your job to the best of your ability and live with the decisions you've made.

So, who do you really blame for your failure to obtain employment in law enforcement? Was it your academy staff, the polygraph examiner, the consultants who make up the tests at POST, who?

You seem really, really bitter. You're one of the reasons why I hold stock in Kleenex.

Vale, it shows you joined the board in 2009 but have only posted these 3 times. Then you start out with inflamitory B/S. I don't know if you've bothered to read these forums since you joined or not, but really the immaturity around here seems to be coming from you. FJ has 20 years on and was a sergeant before his agency got taken over by LASD, now he is a deputy. All we know about you is what you put up here and I for one am not impressed.

You mention things you think we do and get away with, when reality is totally different. My agency posts a monthly letter from the Undersheriff about who is getting in hot water for DUI or D/V and my agency has no tolerance for it. I had the unfortunate business of having to arrest a sergeant I had previously worked with for D/V.

We cut no slack and expect professional behavior from our personnel.

As MDR has already pointed out, posting just three times over approximately 18 months and immediately ramping up to inflammatory remarks makes it pretty clear that valetudo is a troll. Wouldn't surprise me if it's bsd's latest attempt.

By all means, vale, keep up the charade and come back with some more self-indignant nonsense on how you really are legit. But I'm done with ya'.

Six of the defendants appeared in Superior Court this morning for arraignment. They were: former Sheriff's Capt. Hobart Gray, his wife and former sheriff's training specialist Angela Gray, retired Assistant Sheriff Michael Stodelle, Lt. Russell Wilke, training specialist Sally Ann Christian, and Deputy David Pichotta.

Retired sheriff's Lt. Bill Maddox failed to appear, and Judge Michael Dest ordered that a warrant be issued for his arrest if he does not appear in court on Friday for his arraignment.
Suppose neither POST, nor the investigative unit that put this case together didn't exist? Suppose those that talked (ie: did the right thing and told the truth) weren't more than minimum wage employees and didn't care about ethical behavior at all? Yes, this stuff is embarrassing and (if found to be true) aggravating, but it could have been much worse. If this stuff was happening across the board and no one investigated or followed up on these kinds of issues, that (IMHO) would have been an even more unsettling situation.

There are those that believe LEOs shouldn't get the kind of pay and benefits they receive now, because they don't deserve them. Do we really need less professional employees, than those that handled these allegations the right way???
