  • Off-duty carry at the Getty Center?

Any LA coppers weigh in on this? Will be there tomorrow with the wife, didn't know how they felt about off-duty w/guns.

May also go to Griffith, if anyone knows about that also.

Don't know about Getty as I've not been there. If you're referring to the Griffith Park Observatory, yes, you can carry inside.

They have metal detectors...last time I went I badged and they didn't say anything.

I've heard Disneyland is hit and miss...you might be okay, you might be asked to lock up your piece.

Just curious, I can understand why someone would wish to carry off-duty around many parts of LA, but why would anyone wish to carry a weapon off-duty into a family oriented amusement park that has security screening at the door?

On another note, has anyone ever seen Disney's "SWAT" team? The security guys in the black tactical outfits? They almost look like Ninjas. Pretty funny.

I think you answered your own question on this one....
I would say because its a amusement park and that one off duty cop carrying his gun could divert an disaster. I more than welcome any off duty cop to carry into the happiest place on earth. I certainly would if my CCW were good in Cali....

Went to Disneyland a few months ago. There are no metal detectors...they only search your bags. Don't tell them you're 417 and you'll be fine.

                    Several reasons:

                    1. Security screeners are imperfect.

                    2. Some weapons don't show up on metal detectors.

                    3. Some amusement parks have gangs, which can be dangerous even if unarmed.

                    4. Don't want to risk getting weapon stolen from car.

                    5. The ride to the park can be long.

I have been there for special parties, and they did not have security screening. Of course, the parties were for police and fire.

I carry at Disneyland for the same reason I carry everyday.

What if Mickey and Minnie get in a DV???
Go back to where ever you came from, smoke a fatty, and sing Kum-Ba-Yah with Osama Bin Laden. Hopefully you will find the Communist Utopia you so desire.

Just have to do what most Californians do, pick up a stick or rock and throw it. Then hope for the best.
