  • NorCal departments hiring reserves?

I was just looking around, and have not been able to find much of anything. If a person had a POST cert, what are the chances of getting into a reserve position right now?

I think you would have to call the agencies.

Palo Alto is hiring reserves, although I have no idea what your chances are.

Basically I've found you have to call them directly. No one posts reserve openings on department websites. It's hit and miss.
        1) look on department sites to see if they have a reserve unit
        2) then call and ask to be directed to the reserve unit.

Then to complicate things they get back to you whenever they feel like it, and it could be that day or a few months down the road.

        You have to keep digging.

Thanks, I figured that most department removed listing because of budget problems. I guess I was wrong, I will dig around some and seen what I can find local. I'm going to go on a ride along with my local PD, I will ask then.

You could try Sac County Sheriff. They have been using a lot of On-calls and reserves as of late....

Being a Reserve is not a job. It's being a Reserve. There are depts out there who don't pay their Reserves, just so you know.
