Pretty vague question but assuming you mean law enforcement: http://www.payscale.com/research/US/..._Rate/by_State

        It Depends:

What area are you wondering about? Northern Cali, Bay Area, LA Area?

The salary scale is all over the "map" depending on the area.

Let me know what part of Cali your wondering about and I will try and answer your question.
Go back to where ever you came from, smoke a fatty, and sing Kum-Ba-Yah with Osama Bin Laden. Hopefully you will find the Communist Utopia you so desire.

I'm sorry on not being clear. I'm wondering about LASD, how many hours do they work? What would be the average salary with overtime.

Every facility or station for the CA position differs. Just like a Deputy shift. They usually have alot of o/t oppurtunity also.

Do yourself a favor and only rely on the base salary - overtime comes & goes (going right now). You may have mandatory overtime at one facility ("Drafted" for extra shifts), and another will be bone-dry. CA's that work at patrol stations recieve an extra percentage on top of their salary (5% I believe) and you get an extra 2% for working graveyard shift (we call it EM shift for Early Morning).

I've seen too many folks who NEED overtime to make their bills - that's no way to live. It's nice to work to make extra $$ for play, just don't get used to it and you'll be fine.

                Good luck!
