It didn't go as smoothly as planned, but he said he was willing to put in the investigative work to verify everything I stated. He said there were quite a few obstacles in my background, but he said that nothing that spell out automatic DQ as yet (except that 1 bad debt). He also promised to call me before he sent out a DQ letter.
Question on the 1 bad debt: I was surprised when he said the whole account had to be paid off all at once. I was under the impression that if you were making payments towards the debt, then it would be okay. He said that was a misconception and if the account was already at a collections agency, there could be no further consideration unless the debt was completely settled and paid off. But other recruiters from other agencies said it was okay so long as I was on a payment plan with them. Is this not true if it is not with the original creditor?
On a positive side note, I enrolled in Grossmont College's 29th Academy. I met with our academy coordinator today as well (a very nice woman). Orientation is this Saturday.
So, either way, it's happening. No matter how many times they say no, I know in the end they are going to say YES when I prove myself.Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence!

Best of luck to you, from your posts on here it's clear you're dedicated to getting a job, it'll happen.
I didn't take it as disrespect either. Sometimes (expecially for retired ol' CHiPpie supervisors...) people forget what it's like to be on the hiring end.
Part of it also stems from the BI not wanting to spend all the time and money on getting you in, getting you partially trained, and then having you drop out cause you can't concentrate because of distractions and problems from the outside world, ie. money problems, bad family issues, etc. When you are in the academy, it's all you should be thinking about.
Good luck.
