  • Rio Hondo PT

    Hey guys-

I am thinking about attending the Rio hondo academy. I am an excellent student and feel i would do well in the academy. I lack in the PT dept (running). Does Rio Hondo kick you out of the academy if your not a great runner? I have tried training, gotten better but I am just pretty slow...If you try your best and do everything to keep up, do they kick you out like other academies if your having a hard time with that?

That website hasn't been updated in a while. They should be around PAF 29 or 30. Call (562) 692-0921 for the next orientation date. The class lasts 12 weeks and rain or shine you will be running. At the end of the class you will go up Nike Hill for your pride run.

Yes and they love to run up there...if you fall too far behind then they will make you stop and you will lose an hour of PT and you only able to miss 6 hours. The pre-academy fitness program would be a great idea!

You say you're slow, but how's your endurance. Most academy running is more about endurance than speed.

If you are serious about putting yourself through then I really suggest that you take the course.... Worst that can happen is that you lose some wieght, best thing that can happen is that you build endurance and get prepared for the actual academy. The tac staff is there to motivate you to do your best in that "special way" but the good thing is that they also allow you to ask all the questions about processing, excerises or other academy related issues while in the real academy.

What's going on people! Just curious, I will be doing the pre fitness academy at Rio Hondo coming up this Thursday. However, I just wanted to know if anyone is attending the program and attempting to join the academy in January of 09 or February?

I'm looking at re-joining PAF next year... oh and a bit of advice, Don't wear a"Tijuana Tuxedo" under your PT shirt and if you have hurl, there'd better be chunks other wise you're wasting their time...

Do not mean to hijack. Once you graduate the academy, does Rio Hondo give you credits/units towards an associate's? Thanks.

Hey gonzo, are you refering to the wifebeaters. LOL.
