    sprints!!!

find a track and sprint the straights then light jog around corners...do this twice a week till you fall down and you will be good to go. also once a week do a long run. if you are running 3 miles 5 days a week, replace one day with sprinting and one day with like a 5 or 7 mile run.

    good luck

Don't neglect your push-ups and sit-ups. The best way to get better at them is to just do them. Who are you applying with?

      Good luck.

Yes, we graduate this month and it can't come fast enough! Not that academy is all that bad, I'm just anxious to move onto the next phase of training.

              Alea Fitness Guide

Here is a link to the ALEA fitness guide for folks getting ready to enter an Academy. It was helpful for me. Especially the pushup improvement section. Follow that and your good to go.

So do the sprints twice a week and once a week do a long run. The rest of the week run or jog 3 miles?
Also should I do strenght training every other day? Every day? What would you guys suggest?

Depends on your class Sgt. My class Sgt loves to do a lot of push-ups and flutter kicks.

Honestly, you don't need to be in amazing shape to do well in the academy. Just keep what you are doing and you should be fine.

I do not think ASU West has a track. who else might have one? I am dying to find one.

If it's distance you need, just use Google Maps, type in intersections into the "driving directions" section until you get the distance you want, and run it. That's what I've been doing, and then walking back as a cool down. Works well for me, I hope it helps you out too!

try mapmyrun.com it has more running specific distance measuring and has more handy tools.

Rich, I don't know exactly where you live, but

ASU Main - Tempe, you can use Sun Angel stadium
McClintock Highschool - Weekend public use, and evening use when not being used for the school

But if you've tried greenway and cactus shadows.... those are probably WAAAY out of your way. Lemme know the general area you live in, I may know some tracks

                              West side.

                              Greenway, cactus are close
mountain shadows is a good 2 mile run.

if you look at the very northwest corner of 101, that is prety much were my kid goes to preschool.
