  • Pinal County Sheriff

Hey all, I am interested in the PCSO and was wondering if anybody has any insight on them. I would apply for a sworn deputy position, not corrections. I know they are hiring, but how many? Is it a good place to work? Do they have a faster process for out of state applicants? I lived out in the valley for 4 years while attending ASU and am now hoping to get back there. I know the pay isn't the best, but I would love to live in the Gold Canyon area. Thanks.

I work for them. Send me a PM for more info. Our raise is supposed to come through in July and starting pay will be a little over $44,500. We do have a fast track for out of state or for anyone for that matter. The Sheriff just put it out that we have 39 spots to fill and that he wants applicants fast tracked. We will hire you and do it quickly if you meet the requirments. We currently have people being paid to help out around the office because the academy for them doesn't start for several months.

It depends on who you listen to. I have heard people say we are now at full staff and others that say we need 40.... Both from HR.

Ritchie, don't shy away from detentions. their paying more than maricopa and just a little less than pinal patrol. We've found housing is cheaper in Pinal county than most of Maricopa County as well... that was an added benefit for us. Anyways... I can let ya know how the process goes if ya like as I start my oral next week. It may not be the dream job your looking for but its a step in the right direction..

          Payscale... Compliments of PinalJobs.com

          Pinal County Detentions Officer (Deputy)
          Start: $43,513 ($45,052) Top out: $61,755 ($62,254)

If you compare the Detentions Officer pay to Maricopa.. they start at $36,025 and top out at $50,024. Heres the rest of the basic pinal county ranks for giggles...

          Corporal
          Start: $47,985 Top Out: $66,289

          Sergeant
          Start: $49,171 Top Out: $67,932

              They might be full.

But I know that no news is good news.

No news means you are not DQ'd.
No news means you are not "not chosen".

Then again, Geek4Life tested for an agency in November of 2006. It wasn't until May that they got a hold of him and asked if he was still interested. They temporarily misplaced his paperwork.

But I still believe in "no news is good news

In case anyone was still wondering, I contacted PCSO about my application status. I took my written test on July 15, and haven't heard a work yet. They informed me that they were having trouble with getting people to come out, so they don't have enough qualified people to justify a physical test just yet. She also informed me that letters will be sent out soon with dates.

How did you find out about the written. did you call first and THEN apply or do they have ongoing testing? when I was talking to HR they told me they didn't have a written test yet scheduled for the Deputy position. I was kinda confused after hearing that.

The last step in the process for me was the physical agility test. Don't worry about them not putting one on just yet... I completed polygraph, backround, medical and all that good stuff before they put on a physical. As for taking the test, I think we still do it every Friday. You must first complete the online job application and then take the written within 10 days of the application. Check the county HR website for additional information.

welcome to the club, took mine aug 3, no word. i called 3 weeks later and they said they would start calling sept, but here it is nov and have not heard anything. i have since moved on, unfortunately they WERE my first choice, but oh well, good things happen to those who wait. and it looks like a good thing is coming my way!

they could have at least called and asked if i was interested in detentions, which i probably would have beem since their pay is so good

thanks, yeah they were my #1 also, but i moved on as well, I'm now testing with Phoenix, (my new #1) But since i'm still active in the process, I'll definitly continue the process if it doesn't interfere with Phx.
