I posted it because everyone deserves a fair shot. If there is someone out there better fit than me for the position then they deserve the position over me. I guess I am a nice guy. The way I look at it is if I am meant to be in LE then it will happen when it is supposed to happen. Good luck to everyone that puts in for it.Comment

I'm not saying you're a bad person for doing it. I'm saying you're creating more work for yourself by doing so.
I've got enough life experience to tell you that your mentality of "it will happen when it's supposed to happen" will leave you far behind the pack. I thought that exact same thing when I was in the military. You've gotta think about what YOU want and how YOU will work for it and go get it. If you always wait for it to come to you, a lot of disappointment will be in your future.NRA Life Member

Maybe I said it wrong. I am not just sitting back and waiting for it to fall in my lap. Trust me. I am 29 years old and just left the military after 11 years of service. I know all about fighting for what you want. In that 11 years I also achieved my BS in Criminal Justice and Associates in Business Management.
I am not disagreeing with your mention of me making it a harder process by advertising. The more advertisement, the more competition. With only 25 slots available the competition amongst laterals is high enough. On a side note, Thank you for your military service.Comment

Application is in....hiring 25 means there should be a good shot especially for us military guys, with laterals out of the way should be smooth sailing for us (from what ive seen) unless you screw it up for yourself! Good Luck to all!Guns kill people, like spoons make people fat!

You may want to tone down the military background thing...it helps but in reality it does not make much of a difference. If you recall, there are plenty of idiots in the military (even in the AF)....and they are applying too. We (LE community) know this and take mil experience w/ a grain of salt.
I have been an RTO at the academy and we have dumped nearly as many prior service guys (all services) as the others. If you get hired, the academy is much longer and much more physically demanding than AF basic training so you will have your hands full.
