I agree Kennedyford I plan to apply with every agency that starts hiring...I get out of the Air Force Mar 2010 and would like to start an academy right then...I have agencies I would like to work for but mostly I just want to be a cop (in the Phoenix area), and will work for whoever hires me!

That is crazy I am actually a recruiter is southern AZ, but I only do Active Duty Air Force. Keep working on the weight I have seen that one thing keep out so many people! Good Luck with the ANG. I thought about the SF route but would prefer to be an officer in the civilian world. If you get into ANG for SF I bet it would triple your chances of getting hired though. From what I hear military get put up pretty high on the list when recruiting is done.

Warning if you are in the reserves and trying to get on Suprise, dont re enlist, my partner interviewed for them and she is an Air Guard SF. The Chief bascially told her what happens if you get deployed, we already have seven of you on my agency now who I have to pay that are deployed. The Chief is a jackA## who does not support his troops and doesnt like guys being proactive. We had an escape in El Mirage one night when we needed a SWAT Team and they would not help us but sent the old farts on patrol to direct traffic. I wouldnt work there but if its a foot in the door for a newbie, I would go for it and then lateral to Goodyear or Chandler.

I applied with Goodyear I just got the call to schedule my oral board next Sat. So we shall see how it goes. Lets hope my recruiting experience will help me to shine on the board. Cant be a recruiter if you cant handle a little public speaking!

It would suck for them because it is a major lawsuit waiting to happen.

Talk to my partner about that, thats what she told me. I have no reason to doubt her. Also ask around about the escape incident in El Mirage, especially El Mirage PD they will tell you all about how Suprise left us and them hanging.

The best thing that happened to Chief Hughes is when he got his gun and car stolen from the gym because like a jacka## he wanted to walk in the gym in uniform and show everyone I am the cool chief. Unfortunely its the US Marshalls Task Force when the suspect that was involved set the house he was in on fire. I think he is an idiot, I have two very good friends that work there. One keeps getting screwed with because he was involved in a 962 on his way to help another officer. He was injured very severely and just recently returned to patrol. He was treated like sh## by the admin. I am sure Suprise has plenty of good coppers, but your Chief and admin suck. That was my experience from the El Mirage incident.


AZLawdog, I am sure you heard about the Chief Hughes incident and the apprehension because VCAT was involved in that.
