  • Night Shift Summer

Has anyone here worked the night shift including during the summertime? When working overnight during the summer does your body feel like its the daytime because of all the sunlight? Are you able to easily stay awake?

I loved grave shift in the summer when I was in Fairbanks Patrol. It's daylight all night long there and it's generally super busy with tons of craziness. And you can see moose along the road. Because of the light people tend to be more active at all hours of the night. Everyone had blackout shades to make their rooms dark at night and that worked for me during the day. A good fan and maybe a window A/C unit. No problems!

Like Valor 55 stated, good blackout shades and some circulating air will do wonders. The longer daylight hours means more drinking and craziness for many of Alaska's citizens which in turn leads to increased stupidity. A benefit to the night shift is being able to catch the sunrise.
