Mobile PD

Greetings from Virginia. Taking a trip down to Mobile to visit my dad at Thanksgiving and he has been trying to convince me for a long time to apply to the Mobile Police Department. After this last summer I've been wanting a change in scenery but want to know more about the department before I take any steps. I've checked the website and it is fairly sparse on details about the hiring process other than taking a civil service exam. How does the process work in Alabama? I also heard that the Mobile academy is only 16 weeks long? How is the morale and equipment of the dept? Any other info about the area or department would be greatly appreciated.
