Apparently that stupid idea about singing the US national anthem in Spanish has made it across the pond... yesterday Green Party MP Christian Ströbele demanded that Turkish lyrics be added to the German national anthem.

He opined that Turkish immigrants singing the national anthem in Turkish would be proof of how successful they were integrated in German society and also show that Germany is a truly multi-lingual country.

*sigh

I guess this shows that true idiocy knows no borders...

Thank God a national identity isn't exclusively an American dream. Speak English with as crazy an accent as you'd like, teach your babies Spanish and English, but by God speak English.

The reason this immigration is raising such heat, is, for the first time, the immigrants do NOT want to become Americans. My Grandparents came here (from Russia), and they wanted an American name, and to learn to speak English. These illegal Mexicans want jobs, and our medical care and our welfare, but they want to speak Spanish and fly the Mexican flag.
