Several are already going from the U.S.A. (including me) to work as Venue Security Managers. They've even got a couple coming over from Australia too. Should be a great experience. I'm going up there next month, until March 28th 2010.Comment

You can't get seconded from US agencies guys - only Canadian agencies, to the ISU. You'd have to actually apply direct to VANOC or CSC then resign from your jobs and go. It's a bit of a risk for younger guys with only being contract work, but OK for retirees. I'm retired myself, and was already working in a temporary position - just completed a 1 year contract. So it's ideal for me, although I will be looking for work again, in April 2010.Comment

I'm not sure whether the Vancouver Organizing Committee (VANOC) have any more 'security' vacancies, but you can check their website out:
Official home of the IOC. Find the latest news and featured stories, information about IOC members plus Olympic principles, values and legacy.
They contracted out most of the security duties to a company called CSC who have their own website. Check out their vacancies here:
The whole security operation is being overseen by the Integrated Security Unit 2010 which was set up by the RCMP but also includes other local agencies. This is the unit's official website:
Best of luck.Comment

I had applied for a secondment back in January, was told I was on the list back in October, and everyone that is being seconded has been notified of departure, location, accomodations and return as of last week, but I was not one of them. I still can't take holidays from early January to early March, though!#32936 - Royal Canadian Mounted Police - 1975-10-27 / 2010-12-29

I got an e-mail late on Wednesday - I am still on the stand-by list for my Division, but I am not holding out much hope. However, if I do get grabbed, I probably will not get a lot of notice - I just have to hope if I get stuck in Vancouver in double-occupancy on one of the boats that the other person snores at least as loud as I do, or that I get in with a good cabin group in Whistler. At least I know all I need to bring is my general-duty gear plus some civi stuff - the local gals and-quite-lady-likes are the ones doing the postcard / PR dress-up gigs!#32936 - Royal Canadian Mounted Police - 1975-10-27 / 2010-12-29
